Trophy Night – 4 November

The Trophy Night was a very animated affair, with an impromptu non -musical chairs and tables as an icebreaker to begin with, before the  33 members and family tucked into a typical George Hotel spread . The junior members of the club had obviously though carefully and passed on starters to enable them to do the puddings justice.

Hamish and Calanach then gave a presentation illustrating their trip on board the 72 foot OYT yacht  ”Alba Endeavour”. Sailing out of Greenock they spent 4 days cruising the waters of the Clyde, with the 12 cadets carrying out most of the duties on board, including anchor watches in the middle of the night. They also found time to catch up with their sister ship “Alba Explorer” as well as some Tall Ships who were in the vicinity.

Finally, the trophies were up for grabs., and as it happened, Gordon Tosh seemed to have grabbed more than anyone else, but in his usual very modest manner.

Thanks again to Gordon Paterson for the excellent photography. I didn’t realise how handsome we all were.

The last activity of the season, and one of the most important, is the AGM, being held this year on Thursday 24th November at 7.45pm at the George Hotel. As well as the usual fun filled reports from the Commodore, Vice-Commodore and Treasurer, there is the opportunity to be elected on to 2012 committee and have a significant say in the future of the club.

Under Any Other Business, there are 2 items which will have a major impact on the club.

1.Funding Applications

2.A proposed array of 15 tidal turbines mounted on the seabed across the   river beneath the road bridge.

Come along and have your say, but primarily, come along.
