Montrose Sailing Club recently welcomed Andrew Hill-Smith to Montrose for a one night stop off on his sailing trip around the UK. He’s raising money for three charities by sailing un-supported around the UK in his laser dinghy. He’d set off from Southampton on 10th April, going up the East coast. The latest leg had been from Arbroath, leaving at 1pm on Monday, but because of light winds, he didn’t arrive in Montrose until almost 7pm. He was welcomed at Scurdie Ness by Roger and Rory, leaving his boat on the beach and driven into town where he was put up for the night.
The next morning, after a well deserved rest, it was back to the beach. The boat was still there and the forecast looked much better, with a light South Easterly breeze.

You can follow Andrews progress from the link on his website:
Andrew is equipped with a very cool GPS tracker and you can see live progress, plus a history of his route from links on the website. There are also links to the donations pages if you would like to support his efforts.

Andrew had lost his burgee the previous day and Roger was able to supply a suitable ‘Scottish’ replacement.
